This house, built in 1903, likely belonged to a wealthy local merchant.
It had two entrances: a shop accessible through the door on the right, which was attached to the residential section, which was accessed through the door on the left.
During a summer outing in 2017, Laurent had a fateful encounter on the nearby Fuseta beach…
Two years later, he decided to purchase these ruins, which had a leaky roof and had been uninhabited for 40 years….
With time and patience, he was able to breathe new life into this abandoned place.
An ambitious reconstruction project was then launched.
To carry out this project, he called on his friend and designer Hugues De Groote, who had worked on major projects, including Yves Saint Laurent’s Majorelle Gardens in Marrakech.
Hugues was quickly captivated by the Algarve style and recognized many familiar Moorish architectural elements.
