CASA FUSETA A FUZETA

About Casa Fuseta

Nestled within the Ria Formosa UNESCO World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve (18,000 hectares), the fishing village of Fuzeta lies between Olhão, the ‘Cubist town’, and Tavira, the ‘Venice of the Algarve’. Casa Fuzeta is a meticulously restored 1903 Portuguese villa that has undergone six years of architectural restoration ahead of its opening in 2026. The house sits at the eastern edge of the Ria Formosa,
twelve kilometres from the nearest resort development, which is
precisely why its tidal light looks different at six in the morning.
Situated directly by the sea in the heart of a village that has remained virtually untouched, this Portuguese holiday home boasts one of the Algarve’s most sun-drenched beaches. The property, carefully renovated by an architect and a renowned French designer, combines historic stone walls, original terracotta parquet floors, artisanal woodwork, and lime-washed walls with modern comforts including a rooftop pool, summer opened kitchen patio , air conditioning, and high-speed fibre internet.

Welcome home!

The house

The casa: 1903 Portuguese architecture restored

Casa Fuzeta preserves the original features of a historic Portuguese  house whilst integrating contemporary amenities with precision. This luxury holiday house in eastern Algarve features a considered architectural approach that blends stone construction with French influences and a Moroccan-inspired courtyard layout. The cool, shaded patio provides a dining space, whilst a sunny terrace
offers a place to absorb panoramic village and lagoon vistas. Each room has been designed in a minimalist yet artistic style using high-quality materials, from the shower facilities to soft furnishings, creating a warm atmosphere that respects the house’s historic character without sacrificing modern comfort. Whether you rent this holiday home in Fuzeta for a family getaway or intimate retreat in Portugal, the villa delivers both elegance and relaxation.

Rooftop pool and outdoor terraces

10×2-metre swimming pool sits on the roof terrace, maintained year-round at 26–28°C with non-slip decking and secure railings. The rooftop pool offers panoramic views of the Ria Formosa lagoon and Fuzeta village : a distinction worth knowing if the reason for your stay is rest and silence. The elevation changes the angle of vision entirely: at this height, the estuary fills the full horizontal line rather than appearing above a garden wall. A ground floor patio provide dining and relaxation spaces, including shaded areas and sunny areas with skyline views.

Four en-suite bedrooms and flexible sleeping

Casa Fuzeta accommodates groups of 6–12 guests across flexible sleeping arrangements. The property features four double bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom fitted with PREMIUM fixtures and Bath products. Each bedroom includes floor-to-ceiling windows offering perfect lights , individual climate control, and direct terrace access. An additional four to 6-bed dormitory provides flexible sleeping arrangements for children whilst ensuring that private en-suite access remains exclusive to each of the four principal bedrooms.
House is equipped with high-speed fibre internet connectivity, making the property well suited to remote working stays

Activities within the Ria Formosa and beyond

The surrounding landscape offers year-round activities for different interests. The GR13 hiking trail winds
through the Ria Formosa, and mountain bike routes connect to Tavira Island, Fuseta Island, and Armona Island. The kitesurfing spot lies directly adjacent to the property for water sports enthusiasts. Calm lagoon waters suit kayaking, paddleboarding, and guided boat excursions for dolphin-watching. The Ecovia trail offers cycling and walking with far-reaching lagoon views. Birdwatching opportunities abound: migratory species including flamingos and storks populate the salt marshes. The village’s authentic fishing harbour operates at sunrise; daily fresh seafood arrives at the local market, and quayside restaurants feature the morning’s catch. Nearby towns including Faro and Olhão offer traditional markets and cultural heritage sites. Fuzeta luxury villa positioning provides convenient access to all these activities whilst maintaining genuine distance from resort crowds.

Location: Fuzeta village within Ria Formosa

Fuzeta village nestles within the protected Ria Formosa wetlands, a UNESCO World Heritage Site spanning 18,000 hectares. Direct beach access leads to Fuseta beach, bordered by the Fuseta Island sandbank that protects and surrounds the lagoon. The water within the Ria Formosa remains warmer than the surrounding Atlantic due to this protective barrier; the shoreline shifts naturally with the tides. The house sits 25 kilometres from Faro Airport, approximately 25 minutes by car via the A22, whilst the Olhão–Tavira rail line offers a 35-minute regional service from Faro to Olhão, from which Fuzeta is a short taxi or bus journey. This combination of proximity to international transport and immersion in a protected natural reserve defines the position of the property.

Casa Fuzeta villa is an architect designed retreat where considered luxury meets authenticity. Every surface has been chosen with deliberation: the weight of the linen, the temperature of the stone underfoot, the silence of the rooftop at sunrise. The restoration took six years because the architect refused to compromise heritage for convenience, and refused convenience that compromised heritage. This house rewards those who value time spent well.
