Casa Fuseta, in the Algarve, is a project started five years ago by Laurent, a French entrepreneur who fell in love with the natural beauty of this particular location.

Six years ago, Laurent, a French entrepreneur on a road trip with his children in Portugal, fell in love with this sublime place: the beauty of the Ria Formosa’s natural surroundings reminded him of his childhood in Provence and the Camargue.
The Ilha de Fuzeta sandbank in front of him reminded him of the Banc d’Arguins, where he regularly goes with his partner.
A friendly encounter in the summer of 2017 on Fuzeta beach with Virginie and her mother Paula sealed the fate of his discovery.
In 2019, Laurent bought this old ruined house from Virginie, which had been built in 1903 and had been abandoned for decades. Major renovation work was needed.
Laurent then decided to visit the ruin with his French friend, designer Hugues De Groote.
The latter began sketching renovation plans that preserved the local charm and architectural style of the Algarve.
But the house is in such a state of disrepair that he assures him it would be better to demolish it and rebuild everything from scratch…
And that is what was going to happen.
One Covid outbreak and four rejected permits later, Laurent finally obtains the architectural permit in early 2023 and the permit to start work in July 2023.
The house was immediately demolished in the summer of 2023, followed by a rather slow but precise reconstruction of a very beautiful project…
The idea was to incorporate all the modern comforts required by building regulations (solar water heater, air conditioning, rooftop pool) and to make the most of a beautiful 25m² patio located to the north of the house, which guarantees coolness, as in the most beautiful riads…
